not jumping more like falling (after i was taken out by paul h's car on the stright while marsheling) over all a bad night, cant get out of the bottom group or do more than four fast laps due to slower people and or driver error, then final comes........ car failure servo saver decided it had had enough.
Think i might pop down to ardent on sunday see how my luck fairs there.

I guess you are taking gear diff oil Sherbmeister? What are you running now?
It's tough in that bottom heat Scott, no one wants to be there. Its hard but you just need to be as patient as possible, pick your moment and make the move. You are always going to get tagged at some point though, I don't think you can help it. Keep plugging away dude.
Was an OK night for me, 2nd behind the metronome that is Clax-ton. Took me and the car a while to get on song, me because I've had a bit of a break from indoor and the car because the setup seems to favour a high grip circuit. So it and me were a little sketchy in the early rounds, but pretty much on the pace in the end.
Honourable mention to Daniel Brownhole, amazing speed all night really mate, I just can't 'touch that'. Boom boom.

Scott, i would certainly ask to be moved out of the 1st heat and into the 2nd at least. Your car looked fairly smooth. I get a little frustrated marshalling heat 1 to be honest, there isnt a great deal of ettiquete (or however spelt) going off, ok you've got young drivers in there. And i don my hat (if i had one) for them giving it a go! Guess im just a fussy git at the end of the day lol.
Sherbs, have you tried moving the rear roll bar links inwards onto the inner ball on the wishbones? Softens the rear end up and really does aid grip i've started clicking it over for ardent every time. Apart from springs and 45wt/40wt shock oil and a geared diff my cars running pretty standard. Other than that you can alter the quick roll centre ball links on the shock tower to get it locked in. Quick question though, one hole rear uprights or two on your car?
Cheers Chris, car felt good at times...but you still did me in the final..litterally got bent over and bashed about after the mistake lol. Knocked the turbo feature back about 5 clicks over the night. And it felt really smooth on the throttle. Speedo setup was a great learning curve....I thought id found something i was happy with. Oh well more faffing!

yup lol.
Going through a infield sweeper, Swalls behind (standard procedure) Clipped the inside and it spun it 180 and chris clouted me head on, Popped both sides of the shell in and tweaked chris's..later in the evening it was aparent my handling wasnt getting better as the grip was coming up...another little prang popped my speedo wire out and i noticed the top deck in two bits lol

Another good night for myself last night ;D The car was really good again too, so no complaints at all. Good to see almost everyone except the captain there again! Special mention to brown - hole for the extreme pace he showed at various points in the evening, and to NH who seems to be having the most rotten luck at donny recently. Just sad I won't be there next time

I did have 1000 oil in. After speaking to Bally he suggested 50 weight shock oil, to give more rear traction. Stripped the diff to find the sealing o ring has "grown" & now won't fit back in, everywhere's out of stock....not good

50wt shock oil is gonna be lighter than 1000cst, so thats gonna make the arse end even more loose.

That's what I initially thought. The Xray instructions do say the same tho.... 50 shock oil is about 680cst. Maybe allowing the unloaded inner wheel to slip will help the outer loaded wheel to retain grip? ? Just a theory..

According to the instructions the thinner the oil the more grip......i've tried 50wt shock oil before...it works well at ardent where there is more grip. At donny it was terrible, it would light one wheel up going onto the straight and throw me into the piping. I've since used 1000cst oil, and its been rather nice to drive......for the final i really backed off of the turbo function to try and aid smoothness. With a 10.5 X12 it was just going ballistic at the end of the straight. Andy are you still using standard front drive shafts by any chance? I was using ECS and they were a pain in the arse throwing the car out of balance in corners. Presume your running 6 and 5 downstop (droop)?
As you may have noticed that im not one of the smoothest drivers, and my car seems quite chuckable, if you've 2 hole uprights ditch them for one hole uprights.

I'm using 5 and 5 droop to stop that "whipping round" it does in corners. Chucks too much weight forward i found making the rear end very light and suseptable to breaking away.

Im using something like 6 and 5 1/4 atm made it less whippy but felt reasonably planted.

Hmmmnnn, I'm using std driveshafts, 1 hole uprights. The droop could be worth looking at. The diff instructions say that thinner oil gives more traction in lower grip conditions.

OK then, I have no idea how that works. A looser diff is supposed to give you more steering, so to me thinner oil is a looser diff and therefore more steering and less arse end. I've run my gear diff really loose before and is was properly horrid, ask Deno as well.
I'd love for someone to explain how thinner oil means more traction in low grip, 'cos I don't understand that at all. As Brownhole said, I would have thought it would just diff out and be horrid.

Its weird as when i ran 2000cst in the spec r diff it would understeer into corners off of power. Thinner oil to me makes the car want to light the wheel up with less load/resistance especially on a lower traction track like donny.
At Ardent 50wt oil is ideal as the grip is good and is less likely to diff out coming out of corners.
What droop are you running Andy? What are your speedo settings?
In the A final I ran 42 degrees of timing boost on the speedo with a start of 5400-26000 i think. And only 7 turbo boost. But i am running a 10.5 atm. Throttle profile 2 i believe turbo delay on 0.15 felt smoooooth
