Very good track last night, but time for a rant. The finals are suppose to be a grid start. We all know this but for some reason the first four cars all joined the number ten car who started first with the reverse grid . This happened in all the finals. If it was left to me I would be docking laps. I know some people would be saying lighten up but this is why people stop coming to Donny because it becomes a farce, and gives the club a bad name. Rant over.

I believe the marshalls should be responsible for placing the cars on the grid. It wasnt helpful the cars werent numbered

Must agree, there was an issue with the finals grid. It didn't help with not having numbers but you would have assumed drivers know where their starting from.
Marshals 1, 2 and 3 from each final will have the responsibility to arrange grid order. This means no pre race warm up.....the cars go down on the straight and wait to be placed in grid order.....all drivers must place the correct number on your car.
If it's a shambles again, normal grid orders will resume (no reverse grid).
The club is only as good as it's run, that includes every driver..Donny has got one of the best run clubs out there, let's not spoil what we have.
Other than that, a good days racing.
Bring on next Friday.... ;D

I agree the starting grids were pretty bad A final being the worst I saw, but I also agree that people should know where they should be positioned even without stickers (youngsters and those who didnt know it was reverse order maybe excused if they got it wrong) but we do need to get this right at the next meeting.
SHould we ban the warm up laps at these meetings to give extra time for sorting out the grid by marshals?
To make things even worse the top two finals were poorly raced as well with drivers running through each other to gain position, we all make mistakes (my apologies to matt who I ran into in the qualifiers and to anyone I hit in the final)
As drivers we all need to make extra effort to keep up good driving standards and keep the race evenings enjoyable for all involved.
Qualifying we should all be letting faster drivers through as its a race against the clock not each other, faster drivers should also be more cautious and give the car in front chance to move over, not just run through them.
Finals we all know we are racing each other and it gets competitive but we should all respect the car in front of us and wait for the right opportunity to pass not just driver through them to gain a position. Lapped cars should move over as soon as possible to let the race leaders through.
Great examples of good driving in my opinion are : Chris Chapman and Paul Hindmarsh who every week whether in quailfying or final (if the race leaders are coming up) will move over and give space for faster cars to pass
Lewis Briggs who last night Knocked Mike kitchen into the barrier and waited until he had been removed by the marshal and let Mike regain his position before setting off, even though he lost positions in the process.
We should all follow these examples myself included (there are definitely others at the club who do the same) and we would all enjoy cleaner better racing and hopefully encourage other drivers to join us at our meetings.
End of rant and on a positive note really enjoyed the racing last night and over the last few meetings, so see you all on friday for more racing ;D.

If the numbers are forgotten again all it takes is a marker pen and a little square of carpet tape. Also I think some one needs to contact Mike from MB and assure him last nights antics will not happen again. The club needs people like Mike to promote are club but after the above I can't see him saying to any one, You need to go to Doncaster it's a great club.

I don't think the shambles lining up for the A final is something we've had before and I very much doubt it will happen again, I don't think its really a reflection on the club.To say how crammed the front of the grid was it seemed to be a pretty clean start to be fair. No warmup laps in the finals and marshalls 1- 3 lining the grid up is a good idea.
On the positive side, a really good turn out especial to say we are racing 3 weeks in a row. The night was run like clockwork ensuring we got 4 heats and a final. The track was a great layout and the new tape seems to be performing really well, I didn't see any coming up all night which is a great improvement.
