hi all, went to ardent on sat for a practice as was going out the sat night, same setup as donny, but loads of grip. after 6 laps front right drive shaft pin wore out laft wheel just spiining. repaired that, then 3 laps later left went. replaced both with new and again in a matter of laps one went, so i gave up.
any i deas whats causing it. grub scew tight and lock tightened in correct size pins used.

Scott re-reading your post it is the pin I thought.The grub screw if put in to tight may put the pin under stress .So it's a case of not to tight but just tight to hold the pin not to put the pin under stress and brake with a good tap. I think I'm guilty of doing this.

they are not snapping oe breaking just one side comming out and loosing drive to that wheel

Is there no flats on the pins? Had this problem with the MI4LP, i had it go over the straight at Ardent when the right one shot out and locked the steering block up.
I dont know if there is an alternate solution to them, i think Dean or Graham runs Tamiya. So it maybe worth while asking them.

if there isnt a flat, make one.
File a small curved slot for the grub screw to sit in.

funny you should say about the flat because there isnt, and when i was there i bought some more to repair for the fourth time but with flats on them.

Flats the way to go, other wise there gonna slide out. The TOP Racing pins have flats and fit in the Xray shafts, had to put some of these in myself cos of this problem.

Me too, I'm now using the TOP pins in the Xray. I do keep an eye on them every few runs, even these tend to come loose.

Yep there different sizes and having a small pin will increase the wear on the axle and also cause the pins to slip.
I'd order some pins that are the right size (from the part number) and possibly get the covers that Dene mentioned.

TOP pins are about 3 quid and will solve your issue failing that dremel a flat on your exisiting pins.
Also lock tight the grub screw in!
